The Metaphysical and Ethical Structure in Ibn Sina's Thought: Between Duty and the Rational Soul

The central premise of this study is grounded in the philosophical structure of Avicenna through examining the dialectical relationship between the Necessary Existent as the supreme metaphysical principle and the rational soul as the center of human consciousness and ethical awareness. The study seeks to uncover the Avicennian philosophical structure of his intellectual system, which establishes a connection between absolute divine existence, the First Cause, and the ethical agent on the one hand, and relative human existence on the other, within a framework of intellectual coherence and ontological hierarchy. The methodology of the study adopts an inductive-analytical approach in order to elucidate the metaphysical structure underlying Avicenna’s conception of existence, particularly through the duality of necessity and contingency, the doctrine of emanation, and the relationship between the higher celestial spheres and lower human existence. Furthermore, the study examines his views concerning the ethical structure founded upon the soul in light of its spiritual immortality as an enduring substance whose ultimate purpose is union with the separate intellect, achieved through a process of perfection attained by both intellectual and practical refinement.
